Has it gone too far?

Basketball superstar Kobe Bryant recently facing a hefty fine of $100,000. On Tuesdays game against San Antonio Spurs, Kobe was pulled out of the game due to too many technical fouls. Kobe then said a "gay slur" towards the referee. The next day on Wednesday Kobe found out he has was being charged $100,000 for his actions on Tuesday nights game. Is this a fair punishment just for a couple of words? The NBA is definitley over doing this situation. San Antonio is a big rival of the lakers and Kobe was simply just in the heat of the moment. Any ordinary person on the street wouldnt even get charged for saying what he said. I'm sure Kobe didnt really mean what he said and it was just out of anger. There has been many other worst incidents in sports than a simple slur. France national soccer team player Zidane head butted Italy player and was only charged $25,000. Is Kobe Bryants incident worst than Zidanes? Is it worth 80,000 dollars more? Personally I think Zidanes incident is by far much worst than Kobes yet Kobe has to pay roughly 80,000 dollars more.

  1. The fine was given to Kobe because the NBA has a certain image that they need to be following so that they don't look to bad. It is a little out of proportion, and i think that the Zidanes incident is worse, but going back to image, Kobe already had 15 technical fouls on the season... 16 of those and you get suspended from games. And all his techs were from getting outraged in game, pretty sure he had the second most techs in the league as well.
And besides, Kobe doesn't care, he makes about 100 grand in about 1 or 2 games anyway. :P
