One more week and we're done grade 11! We all know what that means...exams. Exams are probably the single most thing I dread at the end of every semester. People start panicing, and stressing out, staying up all night to finish projects and papers that we were all too lazy to finish and hand in on time. Stressing already? relax, and breathe. Everything will be okay, instead of cramming the night before, just review for 30 minutes a day, for a week ahead of time.

If you're stressing over your exams, here are some helpful tips to 'de-stress'

  • Keep your mind work oriented, and not result oriented
  • Study actively in the day time, and get a good nights sleep
  • Have lemon juice twice or three times daily
  • After reading for some time, close your eyes and reflect for a few moments. It will help you relax.
  • Long hours of static studying affects the lower body and blood circulation, change postions and locations often
  • Do not panic. Practice pranayama. The art of breathing in through your nose, and out of your mouth. Hold for four seconds.
  • Try some relaxing yoga

This is it guys, we're 3/4 done high school. 10 more months in this school and its off to be grown adults and look after our selves. Personally, im actually terrified of growing up, and I panic everytime i think about the fact that we have literally a year of high school left. It feels like yesterday that I walked into Cawthra Park, a niner and now here i am, a 16 year old teenage girl who can drive and has a job.

Good luck on your exams!

As we all know, the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup on wednesday night, after beating the Vancouver Canucks 4-0. As much as I love Vancouver, and im crushed that Boston won, the riot that took place shortly after is just ridiculous and completely unnecesarry. Sadly, this isnt the first time that Vancouver has rioted after losing a huge game, such as the stanley cup. They also rioted in 1994. Journalists blame this riot on the city's anarchists, and claim that these 'people' had only one goal, and that was to watch the city burn. I understand that Canada is very hockey oriented, and that we take our sport very, very seriously, but to start a riot cause we lost the Stanely Cup to the boston bruins? You're supposed to be grown men and women, acting responsibly and maturely, setting an example for your children, not acting like you're 8 and basically throwing a tempertantrum because you didnt get what you want, and that wouldve been having the Canucks win the Stanley Cup. WELL GUESS WHAT? THEY DIDNT WIN and starting a riot clearly is NOT the way to handle your anger. The riot involved burning cars, unconcious people laying on the ground from being beaten mercilessly, and uncountable fights between grown men and women. The beautiful streets were destroyed, and reeked of tear gas. People were thrown in jail, and children as young as 5 and 6 were amoungst this. Honestly, when i heard that this had happened, i was actually upset and embarrassed to call myself a Canadian. Its one thing to be upset, but to honestly cause a riot? Thats down right pathetic and i hope that EVERYONE who took part in that riot, is ashamed of themselves.
The cawthra park dress code honestly confuses me. It's there, but its like its not in effect at all. Girls walk around in shortshorts, crop tops, lace tank tops, etc and nothing gets said or done about it. It personally doesnt bug me all that much, because I think that if a girl wants to dress provocitvely then so be it, its her choice and she knows the consequences, well....at least i hope she would. I can understand to a point, because the weather lately has been ridiculously hot, but when your ass is hanging out of your shorts and your boobs are about to pop out of your bra and/or shirt, i really dont understand the need to be dressed like that. Wearing a little bit more fabric on your body, might make you sweat a bit more, but it surely wont kill you. Guys might enjoy seeing you dress that way, but as for me, i dont ever want to see that. Cover up.

Friday. The day we all look forward to. The last day of school, then the thing us teenagers look forward to the most : the weekend. Well recently, Rebecca Black released a song called "Friday" courtesy of Ark Music Factory. If you haven't heard this song, and put yourself through that torture, give yourself a pat on the back, because you're doing yourself a favour. If you've seen the video, and listened to the song, I feel your pain. It is truly the worst song i've ever heard, and im not quick to judge anything or anyone, especially music.

For starters, what's with those lyrics? Clearly, she needs to go back to school and learn how to write a proper song. I dont know any teenager that's lucky enough to sleep in untill 7am. In her friends car, there is only one available seat, so what is she contemplating when she says "gotta make up my mind, which seat can I take?". So after the chorus, and other pointless lyrics, to this pointless song, she says "yesterday with thursday, today is friday, we-we-we-so excited, we so excited, we gonna have a ball, tomorrow is saturday and sunday comes afterwards". In that one little verse, I can name so many things wrong. Is this 13 year old girl, trying to teach us the days of the week? 'we-we-we-so excited' should instead say "we're so excited", which would make more sense, and make rebecca black sound a little bit more intelligent.

Next, rebecca talks about driving. Uhm...last time I checked the law states anyone under the age of 16 doesnt have a license, and cannot take the test to get your G1 and when you do manage to get your G1, at the age of 16 or older, you still have to drive with your parents, so it seems to me that rebecca and her 13 year old friends, are breaking the law.

Don't even get me started with that voice of hers, It took all the strength I had, just to listen to the entire song. I've never heard anything like it, and that, that is not a compliment. Hopefully, Rebecca does not record another song, like she's promised to on Twitter. Seriously, I dont think the world can handle another song by Rebecca Black.

Let's just hope that Justin Beiber says "no" to singing a song with Rebecca Black. I'd love to see the worlds reaction that song.

p.s. for those who don't know, Friday was a song originally sung by Bob Dylan.

Do you look in the mirror, and hate what you see? Do you poke and prod at your body, wishing it could be thinner, and more toned?
Eating Disorders affect millions of people. Males and Females. They're so common that they effect 1 or 2 out of 100 kids in the U.S.. These kids will mostly suffer from either Anorexia Nervosa or Bulima Nervosa.
Anorexia Nervosa Syptoms
  • can become seriously underweight
  • easily upset and irritable
  • loss of sleep and energy
  • decreased concentration and attention
  • become obsessed with thoughts of food
  • mood, anxiety and personality disorders

Bulimia Nervosa Symptons

  • complusive exercising
  • regularly going to the bathroom after eating
  • discarding packages for laxatives, diet pills, emetics & diuretics.

*If you know anyone that might be suffering from either of these, or any other eating disorder, please confront them and/or get them help immediately. These eating disorders are no jokes.

I believe that the media is to blame for this. In todays media, we see models that look perfect, with their perfectly thin bodies, air brushed skin, and flawless makeup. Whether we notice it or not, we're surrounded by these advertisements, and it influences the way that we see ourselves when we look into that mirror every morning. Now because we are surrounded by all these subliminal messages, boys and girls around the world starve themselves, and spend thousands of dollars a year on material items, so that they can try and achieve what the media states is perfect.
