Modification

Body modification is defined as willful alteration of the human body, whether it's for religious reasons, a rite of passage or just for self-expression. Most of us have undergone this, body modification can include piercing any part of your body or getting a tattoo on any part of your body. Some are more socially acceptable than others.

Considered "Socially Acceptable": A Simple ear piercing.

Considered NOT "Socially Acceptable":

Some of the things that people do to their own bodies may seem cool now, but let's think later into their lives, will they be happy when their skin starts to sag and wrinkle.

But of course the examples above are minor body modifications. Some people try to be a human version of an animal by doing many different modifications. People who try to do so, are called "Humanimals". Why do people do this? Some believe that they are related or connected to a cetian animal so they get plastic surgery, get tattoos and even piercings to look more like this animal.

Canada is a free country, and each person is their own. But sometimes people can get out of hand with expressing themselves.

  1. Great job- your pictures are very effective!Totally agree that yes Canada is a free country and we are allowed to express ourselves, but at the same time like you said there is a point at which you can go a little too far. When you start to look like something non-human or all the tatoos and piercings are starting to hurt your body, then I believe that you have gone way too far.

  2. Everyone has a right to expression, but everyone else has their right to look at you like a freak. I don't understand why people do things when they know that they're willfully ostracizing themselves.
